Transcendentalist Era - Conformity vs. Nonconformity

NONCONFORMITY VS. CONFORMITY

NONCONFORMITY STATEMENT– Following the herd (often to the slaughter house) is dangerous! You have to have the free thinkers! Society's ways do not fit for everybody.

CONFORMITY STATEMENT– The “society” is the system set up to benefit the masses over the individual...so going against that is, of course, dangerous to the masses.

ASSIGNMENT:  CHOOSE ONE OF THE STATEMENTS ABOVE THAT YOU MOST CLOSELY AGREE WITH.  EXPLAIN WHY YOU AGREE WITH THAT CHOSEN STATEMENT.  THEN, CHOOSE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING QUOTES BELOW TO SUPPORT YOUR REASONING AND TIE THEM TOGETHER.  YOU MAY NOT USE “I FEEL,” “I THINK,” “I BELIEVE,” "IN MY OPINION," “I AGREE” OR “I DISAGREE” IN YOUR RESPONSE.  IN ORDER TO RECEIVE FULL CREDIT, YOUR RESPONSE MUST BE AT LEAST FIVE TO SEVEN SENTENCES LONG AND CONTAIN ONE OF THE GIVEN QUOTES AND SUPPORTING COMMENTS.

NONCONFORMITY QUOTES
“You don't get harmony when everybody sings the same note.”
-Doug Floyd

“Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth.”
-John Fitzgerald Kennedy

“Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.”

- George Bernard Shaw

CONFORMITY QUOTES
“Conformity, humility, acceptance...with these coins we are to pay our fares to paradise.”
-Robert Lindner

“The opposite of bravery is not cowardice but conformity.”
-Dr. Robert Anthony

“No man on earth is truly free, all are slaves of money or necessity. Public opinion or fear of prosecution forces each one, against his conscience, to conform.”
-Euripides

EXAMPLE:
The “society” is the system set up to benefit the masses over the individual...so going against that is, of course, dangerous to the masses.  Even though being an individual is an important Transcendentalist belief, in reality, the system that society has set up is designed to prevent mass chaos and is based upon the group and not the individual. In America we have a democratic system which allows Americans the right to vote, and through this process majority rules.  Everyone does not always win.  Sometimes conformity or compromise is important in keeping order.  Martin Luther King Jr. and Gandhi went against society, but they still conformed to the laws and rules of society in order to get what they wanted.  In order to keep the masses safe they chose to operate within the system set up.  Robert Lindner said it best when he stated, “Conformity, humility, acceptance...with these coins we are to pay our fares to paradise.”  Both of these great men exhibited some form of conformity  and humility and those two things made them accepted individuals which has afforded many Americans "paradise" here on Earth.

  1. Society is a system that is established all over the world. Society is a guid line that is suppose that every one is espected to follow. Conforming with society will only enclose freedom it wil enclose self expretion. Being a conformist will lead to high expectation of an individual. A non-conformist has more expresion of what they like and what they want to do. Not have a certain goal already set for them. A non conformist will have a more happier life knowing that they did what they wanted to do not be told what to do. George Bernard Shaw said that "Progress is impossible withought change, and those who cannot change thier minds cannot change anything". Which means if no one is open minded and is not open to new ideas there will be no change. Every thing would stay the same nothing would change no creativity in the world every thing would be boring and plain.

  2. “Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything."Nonconformitist are people that stand out that dont follow the crowd. The Society is full of people that beleive in conformity.but why fit in when ypu can make your own path.although believing in non conformity is different from the rest its a better way of looking at life, we need changes in life so being an outkast is better youll be able to over pass the rest cause they're all doing the same thing.there is nothing wrong with standing out and making your own pathway to success this is better then doing what the "rest" are doing.

  3. Non conformity is being an individual and making your own choices, in which people have to make their own path in order to be successful. Following other peoples footsteps might get you far but not as far as you will like because you're just imitating others instead of being yourself. Today's world people tend to do the same thing over and over again by following the rules someone else made, and that won't really get you where you want to be, you have to accomplish your own goals and Mark your own path. If you really want to be successful being your self should be the only rule you have because at the end of the day that's what really matters. Like one of Doug Floyd quotes states "you don't get harmony when everybody sings the same note" in which he means if you do what everybody else is doing you will never find out what you are capable of. Being your self would lead you to greatness, following other people's rules and footsteps will not. It will just make you the same as everyone else.

  4. The “society” is the system set up to benefit the masses over the individual...so going against that is, of course, dangerous to the masses. Society nowadays is what a group of people do and not what an individual does. Society wants us to act a type of way like others. Dr.Robert Anthony said, "opposite of bravery is not cowardice but conformity.”Conformity can occur in the presence of others, or when an individual is alone.

  5. Nonconformity is what makes a society unique and adjustable to change." Progress is impossible without change and those who cannot change their minds cannot anything"- George Bernard Shaw. This quote strongly explains the ideas and beliefs of nonconformists. Without unique thinkers in a society, there is no room for improvement.Through nonconformity, changes in a society can be made for the better.

  6. We think we live in a democracy, which is the type of society in which ultimate power lies with the people. Our leaders are supposed to be our servants, accountable to the people and fulfilling the wishes of the people, making decisions for the greater good of all. Of course, for the people to exercise this power responsibly and wisely, they need to have an accurate picture and understanding of what is going on in the world, so that they are able to steer society in the best direction.
“You don't get harmony when everybody sings the same note.”
Everybody in this world is different, not only by the color of their skin or their personality but by the way they go about handling things and thinking outside the box.

  7. It isn't always the best thing to "follow the heard". Nine tines out of ten you'll end up in the wrong place with the wrong people, just because you wanted to be like everyone else. Doug Floyd once said "You don't get harmony when everybody sings the same note". This means that noone should be like Anyone else, you are your own person with your own mind set, you do you and let ten do them.

  8. Following the herd often to the slaughter house is dangerous! You have to have the free thinkers! Society ways do not fit for everybody. In my opinion, being independent is like having different mind sets. "Not everyone plays to the same string." Depending on others will bring each person down when the leader fails to succeed. George Bernard Shaw states, "Progress is impossible without change and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything." Which means by building a city the ideas cannot be repeated. The dependent people will never hang on someone's back for help!

  9. Noncomformoty is the better for our society. Without a noncomformist, there would be no change in the environment we live in. The original 13 colonies were lead by the first president of the United States, George Washington. He was a noncomformist and decided to go against the British rule. Because of this, the outcome of the American Revolution, the colonies gained their freedom and became known as the U.S.A. George Bernard once said,“Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.” These men believed that change will not occur without noncomformity, and viewing the world's history, they were right.

  10. In order to create wide scale change people group themselves based on their beliefs. Without nonconformity everything would be so plain and boring. Like it says in the quote by Doug "you don't get harmony when everybody sings the same note". Of course there will be people who stick to the way of society but those who don't are the ones to create the harmony. In the end societies ways do not fit everybody like it says in the nonconformity statement & because of those individuals is the reason society works the way it works today.

  11. Society's ways do not fit for everybody. Individuality is very important because that's what makes everyone different from each other. God made everyone hae their own body and brain because he wanted people to be different. Doug Floyd stated "You don't get harmony when everybody sings the same note." If everyone where the same then it wouldn't bring about new things is what Doug Floyd means. Therefore being different in society is great because it brings about new changes.

  12. In this world that we live in, following the herd is dangerous but you have to have the free thinkers.Society doesnt and it might never fit everybody. Society is not perfect so that means that somebody could be a little bit different.People try to conform to fit in and seem like a member of the crowd while others think opposite and seek indivuality. Like John Fitzgerald(JFK)says "Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth." He says that conformity will not allow you do what you want and that it will not help let you develop into who your going to be.

  13. "Following the herd is dangerous! You have to have the free thinkers! Society's ways do not fit for everybody." This quote is very true. Free thinkers don't harm the world yet make it better for all of us. Thankfully for those who don't follow society great discovers have been made in the world. Free thinkers have done so much. They have been able to change to the world. A man named George Bernard Shaw once said,“Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.”. He proves what I said. Without them our world would have no meaning, therefore discoveries wouldn't be made. Its good not to follow the crowd. Not everyone is the same or thinks the same. We need to be able to make out own decisions to make an impact on the world.

  14. Following the steps/actions of other people often do not lead to where you expect. This is why it is important to be yourself and be unique in your own ways . Doug Floyd once said "You don't get harmony when everybody sings the same note." Harmony is when people can believe what they believe but have open minds, find common ground , and work together to get beyond one another's differences .In music , harmony is when different notes are being played at the same time ,and it makes the piece sound interesting. But when only one note is played , its not nearly as cool .When everyone is the same , nothing is as interesting as when everyone's opinions are a little different ,but they still find a way to work together .

  15. In order for us to improve our society and adapt to our changing world we need nonconformist to help us on the way. Without these people, our mass society will fall into its own chaos. George Bernard Shaw stated,“Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.” Our advancement in science is a prime example. We need sscientists to get off of their comfort zone and express their ideas to find cures for diseases. Scientist go against societies beliefs, religion mostly, and by doing so they have progressed so much that many diseases from the past now are eradicated. These and actions of nonconformist create the world we are now in.

  16. Following the herd (often to the slaughter house) is dangerous! You have to have the free thinkers! Society's ways do not fit for everybody. Being an individual is an important transcendentalist belief. We do need nonconformity, because we need people to push the limits of our society. If it weren’t for Martin Luther King Jr. taking a stand against conformity we wouldn’t have the Civil Rights Movement or the Women’s Rights Movement that changed the way society thinks and acts towards African-Americans and women. The non-conformity displayed by these movements caused us as a society to rethink our positions and change our laws to benefit the greater good of society as a whole. We have seen the importance of non-conformity. For the good of society people need to be able to be free enough to act against the rest of society or a particular organization for the wider good. If society becomes so restrictive that individuals are unable to not conform, then that society is not able to grow, develop or change according to its needs and will suffer. George Bernard Shaw stated, "Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything".

  17. "Following the herd (often to the slaughter house) is dangerous! You have to have the free thinkers! Society's ways do not fit for everybody." Without our free thinkers society wouldn't be what it is today. John Fitzgerald Kennedy once said, " Conformity is the Jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth." Having transcendentalist beliefs helps our society grow and prosper, some of the issues we have today will be addressed by a free thinker. Both of the quotes recognize that conformity will keep us in line while the free thinkers will free us from the dangers of conformity.

  18. Society says conformity is the way. It's what's meant for everyone. And if one doesnt comform then they're not considered "cool" or simply do not fit in. Individuals face the challenge between conformity and nonconformity mostly in high school.
" You don't get harmony when everybody sings the same note." -Doug Floyd
Following the crowd kills the individual. For most of ones life we are taught to be independent. Maybe it's okay to be in a crowd, but why not stand out in that crowd? Why be like everyone else. No one ever gets noticed that way. Harmonies sound bueatiful ,because of the different tones and levels. We wouldn't be able to get that same sound if everyone sang the same note.

  19. The "society" is the system set up to benefit the masses over the individual... So going against that, of course, dagerous to the masses. America have a democratic system. The right to vote. Women suffrage, women were going against society to have the right to vote and to have the same equal rights as the men. Conformity, humility, acceptance... With thses coins we are to pay are fares to paradise. -Robert Linder Women did not gave up so quickly, women were protesting, the right to vote and some of the women went to jail.

  20. Following the herd (often to the slaughter house) is dangerous! You have to have the free thinkers! Society's ways do not fit for everybody. The majority of the the people are afraid to stand out from society:They dont want to be the black sheep they want to be able to fit in with the rest, which in this case is not right.People should be able to be different,to stand out. Many dont, they are afraid to be called the worst, they are afraid of what others might say.Just the way John Fitzgerald Kennedy states his quote “Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth.” He tried to make many good different conformity to the people.such as the stop of racism, the equal right and, for black people and white people could be able to go to the same school together, wich many didnt agree. He waas soon shot in Dallas,Tx in Down Town.someone had killed him why? The reason for this was Because they didn't agree with his change, they didn't agree with him standing out to help "society", get to better. To be able to stand out should be good. But no is not that way for many individuals, is bad to stand out.So in conclusion should Individuals be able to stand out and not let what others think get towards them? yes.

  21. Society, it's something we all follow, and for what so we can blend in and be normal. Society is here to set a normal for everyone; however, society was meant to be broken from. You shouldn't follow society, instead break out from it. As Doug Floyd say “You don't get harmony when everybody sings the same note.” As you can see Doug says the only way to get good harmony is to hit a different note, just like us the only way to do something amazing is to be different and stand out from society. In conclusion, it's better to stand out from other than to be like others, be different not the same, stand out!

  22. Following the herd (often to the slaughter house ) is dangerous! You have to have the free thinkers! Society's ways do not fit for everybody. This nonconformity statement shows that everyone should be their individual person. If everybody attempt to do the same thing our society would have no growth. Being different from the herd allows you individually to grow as well as the society. Josh Fitzgerald Kennedy says " Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth ". Fitzgerald supports the nonconformity thought "...you have to have free thinkers! Scoitey's ways fo not fit for everyone." Nonconformity allowes people to be their self and free. Individuality helps growth in not only yourself but in the society.

  23. Non-conformity means that as an individual your making your own choices and following the path you want too not the path society wants you to take. Following the herd often to the slaughter house is dangerous! You have to have free thinkers! Society's ways do not fit for everybody. This statement shows that we shouldn't follow society values and be the person they want us to be. A person should be independent, they should rely on themselves and not others. Doug Floyd once said "You don't get harmony when everybody sings the same note." These two quotes/statements mean that as an individual we should speak our mind and stand out of society.

  25. In the past, tyrannical oppression and brutal punishment has always been the way to force the masses into conformity. It benefited the high class and kept the lower class struggling. As time moves on, so must laws and rules. Non conformity must happen in order for humans to progress in anything. Best explained by George Bernard Shaw when he said,"Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.” without some type of anarchy or rebellion to the unfair elite, humanity would still live in the stone age obeying old ways of living. Some nonconformist people do morally questionable things yes, but their message gets across.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Society is always defining everything, and setting up morals that have to be followed. Without knowing how it makes a person less, they can’t be themselves because they always go around listening to what everyone has to say about them. Nonconformity is not being able to feel good about yourself not being able to feel comfortable under your skin not being able to follow your instincts but listen to what other say. Doug Floyd says “You don’t get harmony when everybody sings the same notes” meaning that you shouldn’t live by one note and have a simple life. But live by hearing out different notes ad living life in harmony. Listen to more than one voice be more than what you think you are be great and unique. Society will only judge and never complain so why not follow our instincts.

  27. "Comformity is the jailer of freedom and enemy of growth"- John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Noncomformity has always been the way to go for us to evolve. Not everybody thinks alike everyone has their own opinion about everything. They decide to go forth what they believe in and don't let anyone else decide for them. We know that society is made to prevent mass chaos and it's based on most people and not on a certain individual. The thing is that we don't see how society oppresses the people. Most great ideas that are thought of to make a world a better place are shut down by society. We live in a world were we are treated the way we have been labeled. Living in a world like this is horrible sometimes because you don't die just because someone has killed you. You also die when you lose yourself and become a follower. Imitation is suicide.

  28. Following the herd (often to the slaughter house) is dangerous! You have to have the free thinkers! Society's ways do not fit for everybody. This quote states that Society Isn't for everyone some people try to fit in just to be noticeable, but in order to get where you want to be you have to stand out from others so people we will recognize you that's how so many people established new things because they where their own self and didn't follow the crowd to be like everyone else.

  29. Life is like a highway. The only way to explore the world, is to take an exit. Furthermore, if no one took an exit from the highway of society, those variety of convience stores, gas stations, and restaurants would not exists as of today. It is key in life to exit off the highway of society so that new routes are created for exploration. Another example is a term people refer to as "following the herd". In other words, you know where life will take you if you just follow the leader of the heard all the time. Have a mind of your own, it's a reason we all have brains. If conformity was always the answer we would only need one brain per country or language group. According to George Bernard Shaw, "Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything." If everybody agreed with society 100% of the time, the greats we know today wouldn't be so great. When 2 sides argue, there are strengths and weaknesses to both sides. Who says society has no weaknesses. Who says society has the right to overpower what is just. Without the many strengths and ideas from individuals, a whole could not be formed. In fact society could be viewed as not a whole, but instead a puzzle linked together by pieces of nonconformists who agree on one thing; individuality and freedom of choice. Then in fact majority may rule.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Society should be a conformity. No person should be judged for being who they want to be , it's freedom of expression of an individual. Dr Robert Anthony once said "The opposite of bravery is not cowardice but conformity" , the bravery of a person of not following what society is takes a risk of being criticized. Critique does not hold a person back because they a confident of what they are or what they do. It should be okay to be different.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Following the herd (often to the slaughter house) is dangerous! You have to have the free thinkers! Society's ways do not fit for everybody... Because if you don't think for yourself and follow your path you will not now what life has planed for you, and you will depend on the society you will do as they do. For example communism they do as the leader seas to do. Like Dough Floyd said "You don't get harmony when everybody sings the same note." And also like George Bernard Shaw said "conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth". This two unconformity idealist have the same idea og being a free thinker and not follow nobody.

  32. Thinking for yourself, doing things that you choose to do, refusing to do what other people do, this is nonconformity. If everybody in this world followed what another person does we would have no "unique" people. Doug Floyd said "You don't get harmony when everybody sings the same note." By this Floyd meant, if you follow people then we just have a plain society where everybody is one person. Being "unique" and doing what you want to do is exactly what this society needs. There needs to be more independent people in this world, if not we will all be living the same life.

  35. Following the herd (often to the slaughter house) is dangerous! You have to have the free thinkers! Society's ways do not fit for everybody. Personally my mom and dad told me in order to be a follower u have to be a leader. So following other people is dangerous because when you know what's right it could be tempting but u have to follow the right path. Society isnt really for everyone some people need help and a guide in society but we have to make the right decisions.Doug Floyd says "You don't get harmony if everyone is singing the same note" meaning nonconformity allows ppl to be free thinkers and we need more of those in society. It's good to not be like everyone else because if the world is full of threw same people it would be boring so yes I say we need more nonconformity people.

George Bernard Shaw once said "Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.” individuality is the key to change, not everybody follows the status quo. What if we had one of each of those things and they would all be the same? Think about it! If we all thought alike and did the same things everyday the world would be a boring place. We thank all those people that decided to open their minds and chose to take what they thought was the right path. Those people decided to not conform to society's Norms and took a stand. They brought great ideas to us and if it wasn't for them we wouldn't have everything that we have today. Just think how we all progressed with the people that decided to not conform with the society's norms. Thanks to them we have different types of music different types of technology and various types of food,TV shows and styles. The society is full of people that believe in conformity and decide to follow the crowd. Don't be another person just standing in the crowd be the one that stands OUT! Be a better you! 40. Following the herd (often to the slaughter house) is dangerous! You have to have the free thinkers! Society's ways do not fit for everybody. As you grow up and become an adult, you are taught to be you and be a different, to be a leader and not a follower. So by doing what the society wants you to do and following there ways, you are not truly being yourself. John Fitzgerald Kennedy said, "Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth." Which means if you conform to others, then you are giving up your freedom, and without freedom, you won't grow. By following others, you won't become a better you. So next time when conformed to go one way, don't be afraid to head in the opposite direction.

  41. "Following the herd often to the slaughter house is dangerous! You have the free thinkers! 42. Nonconformity means making your own decisions and not relying on what other people think or believe.  Following the herd often to the slaughter house is dangerous! You have to have free thinkers! Society's ways do not fit for everybody. This statement shows that following someone else's footsteps is not always the best idea. The non conformist people are the ones that change this world. They go their own way and express their thoughts in very different and unique ways. George Bernard Shaw once said, "Progress is impossible without change,  and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything. " Which means that no change would be possible if one did not go it's different path. If you want to be successful you have to establish a positive mindset, and look for new paths and ideas to improve the world and create a difference for you and the people around you.

  43. Following the herd (often to the slaughter house) is terrifying. If there is no change we cannot evolve if we cannot evolve there is no evolution. The society we have now would not exist if it wasnt for extordinary people to stray away from the herd. Examples Malcom X,Ghandi,Martin Luther King and etc. Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything. This means people that cant change their lives cannot change anything only the people that can change their minds can change alot.

  44. Noncomformity You have to have the free thinkers! Society's ways do not fit for everybody. Not accepting people for the individual ways they accept them selves,is a bit to harsh. "Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything" George Bernard Shaw once said. Many people will strike you down for not thinking or being like they are. Change will not happen if the person doesn't have the courage to get up and make something happen.

  45. Everyone wants and enjoys freedom, our country was created based on the idea of freedom. Some of greatest leaders and important people came to be from the idea of nonconformity. John F.Kennedy once said," conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth". Stating that following societies's rules can take much of man's freedom and stop one from allowing them to become who they want to be. One is not truly free until they are able to make choices of there own and follow they're own style. Once one has become free of their own choice they can become the person they want to be. Thus becoming a greatest person in life.

  46. Non conformity is being yourself not following others paths ,but not everyone can have non conformity .George Bernard Shaw states : "Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.” by this he means not everyone can have non conformity this proves that having non conformity isn't for everyone but for the ones that really would like to make a difference. For example; Having non conformity is to be a leader ,its the one person that stands out in a crowd because he or she is trying to be different and not a follower .On the side of being one of those who follow is to care for Society. Society is to care what others do and think. Its for those people who would just like to fit in and not stand out to make a change. Therefore George Bernard Shaw statement is very realistic and true because not everyone can be a free thinker or have the power to change , some people are just trying to fit in .

  47. Most of the time society will tell you conformity is the best choice, but why would anyone want to be like everybody else? Just because someone says "you're weird" or "not normal," what even is normal? Can't your normal be different from someone else's normal. Isn't it better to be the type of person you're actually comfortable being. If you're comfortable just being by yourself and reading a book or listening to music then do that. Being apart of a group isn't bad but acting like everyone else and not being able to do what you really want kinda is. John Fitzgerald Kennedy says "Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth." Trying to act "normal" is just keeping you from being the real you. All you need to do is come as you are and you'll see how great it is to be just you and not "normal" you.

  48. Nonconformity brings out the individualism or the the personality in a person. Nonconformity isn't just about rebellion or being different for the sake of it, but not being like others is what gives the world a sense of diversity making the society to run how it aught to be. Describing nonconformity best, John F. Kennedy once stated "Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth," which means that a conforming society wouldn't have a positive result on the general public as freedom would seem or it would be gone since people would be the same. Being like everyone else wouldn't give that sense of freedom or encouragement to be extraordinary but just to be ordinary as the rest of society's peers. Nonconformity has the ingredients to give the world a lively feeling with no restraints, giving a person an all the more reason to stand out and make a change with no chains to be held down and to add diversity to grow and make a positive change for society.

  49. Following other people these days may be quite dangerous. Things other people think may seem cool to them may not be cool to you. So when you see that your left out, you may change your mind and do what other people are doing just to fill that empty void that you alone don't have filled out of spite of society. John Fitzgerald Kennedy states "Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth". This shows how following others can sabotage your freedom as a person and can postpone your growth throughout your future.

  50. We as humans do not need Conformity because we should be able to be ourselves without being judged or criticized.Conformity will mean We would all be the same so what's the point is that we should be our individual selfs and not follow the rules of society. Even Doug Floyd stated "You don't get harmony when everybody sings the same notes," meaning we shouldn't be the same as the people around us.Yes conformity should exist but we know what is wrong and right and how to act but there's something in society that aren't needed. For example students, almost everyone in high school wants to be accepted by the people around them So they do What they need to do to get in like the latest fashion trends. Like wearing the polos or Jordans, but not everyone like those clothing. Some people are.criticized because they don't wear something trendy or brand name. But it shouldn't be like that we need to be ourselves. That is the bad thing of Conformity that in society they expect a lot of from us To be the same but truly no one will or can be the same as the next person. So non-conformity should be the best option towards our society.

  58. Conformity. Its best to follow your own mind before following what someone else's mind thinks." Conformity, Humility, Acceptance... with these coins we are to pay our fares to paradise, " Robert Lindner.Your thought and opinion should be what you go off of.Even though you may feel the someone is right go by what you think is right. Society rules the world, but you can rule yourself. Its not always right to " follow the heard ".

  59. Our "nature" is our instinct to do certain things. We individually make discisions that we need approval of.And some confirm because we have a mind of our own,yet we like to crossbreed minds and follow each other. It I People's nature to clone or duplicate each other to follow and not lead.It has been this way since the beginning of time.Like John F Kennedy once said,"Conformity is the Jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth".
