  1. The emerging American identity developed very slow, the American dream was to become equal and to have a voice. Americans started out by wanting freedom of religion, then they wanted to own land. Once they owned land Americans started to get money, power, and respect. Then, Americans emerged into having slaves, but slaves wanted freedom. It took about 200 years to get that freedom. After slavery women wanted a voice and equal rights to men, which lead into Civil Rights. Later, immigrants wanted to become citizenships in America. This emerging American identity became accessible gradually, but is true that the American dream changed.

  2. The term, American Dream has been used ever since the new continent was discovered. At first, the dream was to be fulfilled by those immigrants who arrived there to start a new life in freedom and democracy. Centuries later, the paradigm of the American Dream still lives, but it has developed new meanings, and has multiplied itself . However, hardly possible to identify all the Dreams since they exist on various levels.

  3. What is "The American Dream"? Some people may say it's religious freedom, or equal rights. Some may even say it is having wealth. Honestly, it's what you make it. "The American Dream" is what you or a group, envision, and others agree with. "The Dream" has changed so much because of different beliefs and our American rights. My "American Dream" and yours may be completely different, but at the end of the day, it's an American with a dream.

  4. The American dream has helped change and shape the emerging American identity in many ways. It has helped out many groups throughout the years to achieve a goal that they refused to let die. Each group has fought for something different, like the slaves and freedom, women and inequality, as well as minorities and civil rights. The emergence of the american dream will never be the same with the continuation of changing groups, and their reasons to fight. It has ultimately modified how america and the Americans see how important is for that certain group to fight for what they believe in.

  5. the American dream was about a lot of people trying to get right. Women was trying to stand up for there self. African american was trying to get rigth and stand up for one another and not be slaves they wanted to be free and go to other places and other school

  6. America has experienced a ton of conflicts and solutions to them. that is why American identity has changed. "The American Dream" has evolved so frequently that their has been a total change in the desire of the people. The American Dream is open to all citizens of residents living in America

  7. The American Dream is the cause of the Emerging American Identity. The American Dream is a goal set by a group of individuals who have a common goal. Overtime the identity changes through the group as the group changes. They discover new things and expect more. The group of Americans are equal for the same identity due to the hard work they provide to acheive the dream. Though with nit enough effort the goal or dream could vary to happen but, as done in the past so far we have succeded in our ability to establish our American Dream.

  8. The American Dream constantly changes as time goes by. People dream about becoming their own person with freedom and civil rights. Over the years, people have had their wish come true due to the different minorities that received civil rights and when women's opinions could finally be voiced. Most people, such as immigrants and homosexuals, continue to chase after the dream of becoming a citizen or be treated as an equal. If the people in the past never stopped to fulfill their dream until it came true, then the people who are fighting for their dream to be fulfilled should continue to do so and become happy.

  9. The American dream is for people who want to start a whole new life, a whole new identity, but throughout the years that dream has changed. The dream has gotten more difficult to obtain, the dream is both true and false. True for those who have finished their education, have a stable and well paying job, mostly those who perceive in their goals. False for those who drop out of school and live in proverty.

  10. The American dream is that you can be free. For example no body can ever tell you where to work at because is your choice. Also we can almost be doing what we can and want. The American dream is also what is good for you and what can benefit you. Other thing is that you can not be judge no matter what you choice to do. For example immigrants can not enter a place unless there citizenship. Because that can be an American dream for any one who's not citizenship. That's an American dream.

  11. The American dream is want for hope and freedom. The American identity is changing over time. If the people share the same goal wanted for some change to the identity of America. We change our rights for freedom in American. We want for freedom of religion, citizenship, and equal rights. As the people change the American identity so the American dream changes too.

  12. The dream, The American Dream can be and will be accessible to those who strive to achieve it. The dream used to be a white picketed fence with a wife and kids but now its high end living, fast cars, and having more money than you know what to do with. For minorities and immigrants its its five times harder to achieve it but its worth it.

  13. The American dream has changed in many ways, from freedom of religion to equality for everyone. Today one of many american dreams is to have citizenship. It has been said that the american dream has been accessible to everyone, but is that the truth? All races have the same opportunity to access their dream. The american dream is both true and false, true because it gives people opportunities to reach their goal, false because it is accessible to everyone but only a few people get the chance to obtain it.

  14. The Emerging American Identity is changing based on the American Dream. The American Dream is all about equality and freedom. Many groups are changing the identity of America. For things that use to be normal are now being seen as unfair to certain individuals. When things begin to change the way we view America changes as well.

  15. The Emerging American Identity is the making of the American Dream. This Dream or American Dream is achieved by people setting them selfs a goal they want to achieve. So as time passes by their identity starts to change. Though the Identity changes the Americans are the same due to the efforts of working hard to achieve that Dream. In order to succeed this goal or dream we the Americans need help each other because we all have the same dream, which is to have a good life.

  16. The american identity change constantly because, of the people personally, races, and ect. Many people change because of their dreams, to have a dream is like to have freedom, equality, civil rights, and ect. And the American dream is for the people that want civil rights and for the immigrant that want social security.

    ReplyDelete
  17. The Emerging of Americas identity changes over time due to the fact that Americans have opinions and desire many different things. The American dream is not the same for all Americans which most of the time results in conflicts. Americas dream alters because people spread new ideas or beliefs such as religion causes. The American dream will never be the same for everybody. As people change, the American dream will do the same.

  18. The American identity has been changed by a group of people that want to reach the same goal, these people has been under pressure obligating them to reach it. The "American Dream" is a dream that most American wanted back then, nowadays people thoughts are different, which makes it more difficult to achieve , as always, we have to start dreaming in order to reach our goal, but most American don't have that "American Dream" they used to have.

    ReplyDelete
  19. America's identity was never stable. Throughout the years, all these types of people came to America. They came with their own idea of "The American Dream." For example, the first people here, the Puritans. Thier dream was to spread thier religion. After that, that's when these newcomers cane into America with thier own dream. That's why it is always emerging. To this day the American Dream, and in future reference, the dream will always change. Its up to people to choose thiers.

    ReplyDelete
  20. The American dream has changed a various amount of times through our history. I think that the American dream changes so much simply because of the fact that we are expecting more equality. Equality is a huge part of the American Dream because nobody wants to live under the impression that one human is better than the human standing next to them. Equality is a huge element to all of the previous American Dreams as well. The dream still emerges till this day.

    ReplyDelete
  21. The American Dream changed because of Mobility, Flexibility and Experience. The American Dream have identified over time goals and discovered new things. In todays time the Dream of the Americans has changed alot because it has been identified. What is the "American Dream"? Is it unknown? How was it ever brought about?

    ReplyDelete
  22. The American dream of success, freedom, equality has changed over time. Chasing the American dream has become many different things for people over the years, it isn't the same as before. To minorities obtaining the American dream is harder or sometimes not possible because of their ethnicity or religion. The American dream is full of great opportunities got everyone they say, but not everyone can achieve that same goal. In order for somebody too be on top there has to be people below them to make them feel like they have power. Success in the American dream is something hard to get because of who you are.

  23. The Emerging American Identity has changed in many ways over time. Womem have fought for their rights as the same as the slaves to become free. It's a progress still going on since the past that has been developing better. Technology has been more accessible in present day then back then so it's obviously more better for America. People can now choose their religion , to feel free to believe what they desire.

  24. The American dream, as it is often portrayed in media, is a vast, expansive portrait characterized by a wide colorful spectrum of ideals, truths, and beliefs. In this sense, it is a goal. The thought of the torrential struggle it takes for one person in their lifetime to reach their highest possible achievement, which although varies from person to person, will almost always contain some form of a traditional social traits. It is a vision identified by liberty, equality and prosperity. It is the hopes that one day, once all the suffering comes to an end, that the people that have put in so much effort will eventually be rewarded for carrying the burdens on their backs. In relation to the American identity, simply reaching this dream is a far way's away from acquiring that label. To be an American, there is no cookie cutter set that is required to mimic, a person simply has to be themselves with a dream, and the lingering will to never surrender to any obstacle until that dream is reached. Although constantly changing, the American dream is always defined by the people that want to achieve it, even today, even yesterday, and even in the future.

  25. Each year, thousands of immigrants come to America in pursuit of what they see on Tv & perceive as "The American Dream". Some long for religious freedom, money/wealth, & others seek proper education. The American dream is somewhat of a false goal (or fantasy) for the simple fact that, the manifestation of a dream to reality is not easy. One could spend a series of lifetimes in the U.S. and never come close to their ultimate goal. This statement can be found true over the simple fact that anyone can be told of the dream but, no one ever tells the common dreamer what they'll have to go through in order to achieve that dream. Male immigrants of modern date, come to America with the dream at hand to find a better jobs with better working conditions & better pay. Immigrants of the female gender usually come with the dream (at heart) to get a decent job, settle down with a hard working man, and have a big beautiful family together.

  26. American Dream identity has been used ever since it was found discoverd. American Emerged to having slaves, the slaves wanted equal right.Wanted to be free. The American Dream was also womens rights. They wanted the same rights a men. Wanting independence. The american dream changes everyday, things happen and we want whats best for us. We have a dream!!! Another example Homosexual they wanted the same rights as other regular couples. We still having this issue today. Homosexual dont want to be judge want to be able to marry there lover. Overall The American Dream is about equal rights and Freedom

  27. I can honestley say most people live the American Dream. Some live theirs at lower levels of poverty or with no one to depend on. The American Dream has lots of stories or perspectives to it. Some people just want a simple education, voting rights or even sexual rights! The American Dream all emerges depending on the dream your pursuing, everyones is diffrent.

    ReplyDelete
  28. The American dream is having the some rights as everyone else and to have freedom to give your own opinion. In a way can and can't be accessible or be fully be achieve. All people have equal access to the American dream. Because different people tend to have different ideas and/or have different point of view. However we can achieve the American dream for a short period of time.

    ReplyDelete
  29. The American dream is having the same rights and opportunites disregaring sexual preference, gender, religion, and or skin color. The American dream is different depending on who you are and where you come from. For example, the American dream for the slaves back then was to be freed and have the right to vote. Women wanted the same rights as the men. illegal immigrants want a better life wihout being discriminated. Gay people want the right to get married with their same sex partner. The American dream is less accessible for some than others.

  30. The American identity has changed in the relationship to the American dream because they change together. The American dream was once based on immigrants that wanted freedom and a place to live. That vision was a reflection of the American identity, that everyone was free. Over the years that has changed. Now the dream is to have fame and wealth. With that the identity has changed. When people from other countries hear America they think snobs and that everyone here is rich and famous. So what happened to the true American dream? Will it ever go back to the way it was?

  32. The American Identity is growing or constantly change because of dream. Back in day, women don't have equal right as man because mans thing they can do everything and woman can't do thing that they do. At War World two womens start take over the mans jobs because the mans went to the war. After War World two the mans come back and take over they work and jobs. Than the womens start to fight for they equality right. Later on they got them equality right, they start to work at home maid, chef, babysitter, and at school.

  33. The American dream has changed over many years. Americans always come up with different dreams that will fit their needs. Many people come from all over the world to pursuit their "American dream." Some people come for religious freedom, better jobs, or equality. Everyone in this American dream want to be equal and be treated the same. Nobody wants to think that there are people in America that are treated better than they are just because of their race or anything like that. This is the emerging of the American dreams.

  34. An American identity is based on the people that are in this world. The American identity changes as the people begin to have their own dreams or goals for life . As the American population grows the more American dreams there will be . That's how the American dream starts to grow more and more people have more dreams and goals . The American identity starts to form it's self. Society starts to change the identity of American dreams.

  35. The American Dream has changed in so many ways, especially equality. It's not completely the same as before because of how advanced life has become. For example, immigrants are still struggling to be citizens, which is the same thing as before. Another example will be homosexuals, wanting to be treated equally, which is one of the newest American dream occurring right now. No matter how many years pass by, the American Dream WILL change.

    ReplyDelete
  36. The Emerging American Identity has always changed in many different ways, but the most noticeable one is false hopes. We believe that we have freedom when we don't, it's all false hopes. They say we have: freedom of speech, freedom to browse the web, privacy freedom and being able to share whatever kind of media we can't. It is not true, our freedom of speech is limited and we're restricted on what we can say. If we speak out about a certain thing we might get a ticket or even go to jail for it. We believe that we can browse the web without being monitored, that is also not true. We are always being monitored even after we: exit our browsers and close our cameras. "They" know what: we've searched up on the internet, they know what we've watched, and many more things. If they are able to access our cameras even when we don't have them turned on that is an invasion of privacy, that's not privacy freedom at all;Nothing we do is private. Whenever you think of sending a picture to your friend think twice before you do because not only do they see it but so does the NSA and other people. We live under false hopes and beliefs.

  37. The american drwam has changed because of individual american dreams. It has changed simply because its what the americans want. If the majority of people want to do something or want something to happen then most likely it will. Why? Because the people have the power to do what they want, versus back in time when many people did not have that type of freedom.

    ReplyDelete
  38. America is one of the many countries that offer freedom. For that matter, it is the most popular for incoming immigrants. People immigrate from different counties to America to fulfill their own American Dream. Throughout history, Americans and immigrants tried to accomplish many ideas and dreams they thought would help America grow in a positive direction. Now that the United States has become a country were it is free for many people to practice their own cultures, religions and beliefs, it has become a shining hope for most people who strived to accomplish that same goal. Every year the American Dream shifts from a single idea to a series of perspectives by different people.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Pursuing “The American Dream” has shaped America drastically through the past years, simply because people have different points of view on what right they deserve. The more we accomplish the more we crave. Each group has fought for something different, America wanted land, Slaves wanted freedom and women wanted to have a voice. With hard work and dedication this particular groups have emerged the American identity. The American dream will be differently define, it just depends on what people want to achieve it will take some time, however the American identity will continue to change.

    ReplyDelete
  40. The American Dream is too come from one way of life and go to a bigger and better one. The Dream is also different from everyone else's because as we all know, America is a free country. The American Dream gives other countries a false outlook on America because all americans are not rich, happy, and successful. Countries like China actually see America to be beneath them. In other words, the American Dream forms the American Identity by taking horrific situations like slavery and making is a great one, like how now in 2014, we are all free.

    ReplyDelete
  41. The American dream has changed a virious amount of time through our history. They change by many groups having diffrent tipes of dreams and having hope that on day their dreams is going to be accomplish. Whit out the continuaty of thies groups like freedom, womens rigths and inequality we woudn't be hear. And also a constantly many changes in America today.

    ReplyDelete
  42. The American identity has changed in many ways, mainly because of the American dream. The American dream is different things. For example, women wanted to be equal to men. This was huge because women felt they could do anything men could. Also religious freedom, and civil rights are examples of the American dream. People have different beliefs, so they want to choose their own religion. Civil rights plays a big part in the American dream and how it changed the American Identity because in America people fought for civil rights as well as freedom.

    ReplyDelete
  43. The American Dream has changed due to a number of events. As time progressed, the Dream became more complex. Along with the way people viewed America. After one goal was met another arose, sort of like a domino effect. The changes made has not always benefited every American nor have they been equal. Still in many ways lives have changed for the better. There will always be work that needs to be done to the "American Dream".

  44. The American identity is changing over time. The environment we live in today a reason why. Some of our influences that we have change us, like for example the music we listen to.America is not the same as back in the day.Back then the only dream was freedom of religion. But over time we stared changing, we wanted more land, slaves wanted freedom, women wanted equal rights, minorities wanted civil rights, and immigrants wanted citizenship.Even now american is changing with all the new ideas and belives. American identity is changing over time.

  45. The American dream has always been the land of the free. A place where everyone has equal opportunities, but as time goes on the American dream dream slowly changes. The American dream has changed from the right of owning land to people's individual rights. The American identity is a generalization. It went from what religion thought was right to what individuals thought was right. Even though both has changed over the years, both has a lot of similarities.

    ReplyDelete
  46. The American Identity is the way we, as Americans, see ourselves while the American dream is the things we want. Our desires and our wished are all of our dreams. A slave once wished on a star to be free, a women once prayed for a voice and as Americans, we achieved these goals. Over time, our ideas have changed and so have the dreams we once wanted. Now, we want different things such as the right to marry whoever, regardless of gender, for example. It may not seem like it but we all have an equal chance to say what we will and achieve our own wants, achieve our own identity.

    ReplyDelete
  47. The emerging American Identity constantly changes because of the American Dream. Different dreams from different groups have changed our American Identity. From the Puritans, to the Americans, the Slaves, the Women, the Minority groups, and recently the Immigrants have all accomplished "their" American Dream. The American Dream is equally accessible for all Americans, who wish to fight and achieve the dream they want. The American dream can either be true or false. True for those who never give up and keep on fighting for it and for those who thinks its false are the ones who say their dream but never attempt to do anything to reach it.

  48. Things have changed since Obama became President, One this is he wont stop deporting people to there home country. This Immigrant are the reason there is buildings, The U.S. wouldn't be anything without their presents. Immigrants aren't doing any harm to this country all the want is for there kids to have a better future & a better education, they are just helping this country. They shouldn't wake up everyday with the fear of getting sent back to their country.
The American Identity is changing thanks to obama, the changes he has made is making this country fall apart we had more immigrants getting deported, more wars, more protest. People need to open there eyes and realize that . We are living in 20th century things shouldn't be like this . The American Identity should be able to have equal rights for everybody .

  49. The American Identity has changed by people who want to achieve their dreams or American Dreams, They set a goal that they want it to become true and by the time passes they start to change, because they want to success the goal. In order to happen they need to keep going to have a better life.

  50. Once a dream is conquered another one is developed. A nother dream is developed because a problem has accured or there is room for important. The American dream is a goal that never stays the same. If it does that means there is nothing accplished. If nothing is accomplished then theres no American dream.

  51. Since the beginning of time the people of America longed for a dream. It started off as a freedom of religion, but soon emerged within the changes of our country. Whether it was slaves wanting freedom, women wanting equal rights, or immigrants wanting citizenship, every individual had expectations and goals of equality. It's sad to say that along the way of Americans attempting to reach their dream were actually deprived from it by our own country, but it made a stronger nation. In the long run it gave the people strength and courage to fight for what they want and believe in. There are still some issues within our country, but that's what keeps the dreams going. That's what the American dream is about. It's about reaching a goal, whether it's rights, freedom, liberty, or justice, people set out to accomplish what they want. So yes, throughout time and changes the American identity of the "American Dream" has emerged and it will continue to change as long as the people change and as long as they have hope.

  52. American literature, literature in English produced in what is now the United States of America.
    Colonial Literature
American writing began with the work of English adventurers and colonists in the New World chiefly for the benefit of readers in the mother country. Some of these early works reached the level of literature, as in the robust and perhaps truthful account of his adventures by Captain John Smith and the sober, tendentious journalistic histories of John Winthrop and William Bradford in New England. From the beginning, however, the literature of New England was also directed to the edification and instruction of the colonists themselves, intended to direct them in the ways of the godly.
The first work published in the Puritan colonies was the Bay Psalm Book (1640), and the whole effort of the divines who wrote furiously to set forth their views-among them Roger Williamsand Thomas Hooker-was to defend and promote visions of the religious state

  53. The American Dream has change over centries because the previous dream has already been achieved and accomplished. In other words, once a dream is obtain a new goal is wanted to make America a better place. It takes alot of people putting in effort in order to reach a dream. Not just anyone can get something done by themselves. They need a group with simliar goals to fight along with them, and it takes a great leader to lead that group. The "American Dream" is true because alot has been succeed, but it also only has been achievee with sacrifices.

  55. Let’s look at “Civil Right Movement “and what they wanted out of their American dream. This quote was said by Martin Luther King Jr. “I have a dream little black boys and little black girls will be able to join the hands of little white boys and little white girls as sister and brother.” At that moment in time a lot of people wanted equal rights for blacks and whites. In the year of 2014 people are fight for same sex marriages. One hundred years from now it could be having the right to spray paint what you want because that is an American dream. The Emerging American Identity has changed and will continue to change because of American’s way of thinking and wanting more out of their “American dream”.

The American identity is not neccesarily a physical change but a goal changing aspect over a period of time.A group of people with goals. As years progress these goals change due to experience and exposure to different ideas and other views on things. The American dream has changed many times. It is even challenging to determine the new upcoming of the next American identity

  57. The American identity is a process of change. A change to reach a goal or in other words The American Dream. The dream never has stopped it always keeps moving forward. Technically we wont know when we have gotten to The American Dream. For examples lets say immigrants come to america for better opportunities. They want to have a better life for them and their children. Once they have gotten to a stable point in their life they tend to reach for more like a better house, better car, etc. There are plenty of more examples of how people like to get better on what they already have. In the end, The American Dream is in process.

  58. The American Identity is constantly changing due to what other people want in this country. It's just a matter of time to realize the citizens want in their lives. Usually it's the freedom of civil rights, and equal rights as others have. The American Identity is changing to this day, why? The power of freedom that we're constantly giving to these good people. The dream is to grant the same rights to the citizens of the USA.

The American Dream is what drives America to be the greatest country in the world. The American Dream is the goal of being able to live freely in a land where it doesn't matter your age, gender, religion, sexual orientation, and/or culture while everyone is still able to work together with one another. the identity of America is still being molded and will continue to be molded as long as someone has not only a dream, but The American Dream.

Once everyone hears what you have to say the change in America begins and at the end another great thing has happened.

  69. The American dream is the cause of the emerging of American identity. It constantly changes to be fair or at least tries to be. Some people don't agree with these changes so they protest. The way the American identity is right now, is not so great. They use the American dream as an argument but people do not believe or act on it anymore. The American identity is changing, but not in many great ways that there is to be proud of.

  70. I believe that the American Identity is ever changing. Due to the fact that the American Identity is actually the American dream which is ever changing. It changes with the times, but the there seems to be one idea that sticks to every generation, that idea being equality. Which was very evident during the Civil Rights Movement. It is evident even today that people in the U.S. strive for equality as the new equal rights movement today is for pro-gay marriage. Which represents the American Identity, the strive for equality.

The American dream was once freedom for slaves, equality for women, civil rights for minorities, and citizenship for immigrants. No matter how far you'll come remember the starling lines is always closer then you think.. This poem tones will be acceptance because it's telling us to don't give up if we're struggling to keep trying. "If their asking you how long we plan to stay say forever..
