1) be at least five to seven sentences,
2) use the words CONFORM and INDIVIDUAL, and
3) contain one outside quote that supports your reasoning.
QUOTE #1 - We are discreet sheep; we wait to see how the drove is going, and then go with the drove.
QUOTE #2 - It is our nature to conform; it is a force which not many can successfully resist. What is its seat? The inborn requirement of self-approval.
At times in life it is easier to go with the flow. As an individual we are supposed to follow suit as society goes. As people in a society that is conformed there are no other options than to follow the world around you because that is how society is let up." Conformity is the jailer of freedom ,and the enemy of growth. J.F.K " Although it is easier , conforming takes away a persons sensitivity
ReplyDeleteIn society every individual confirms. No ones opposite, we all the same, or are we ?. People sometimes get terrified to do the opposite of what society is doing because they will be excluded and be seen as weird people. That's why most of the people confirm to society.

DeleteWhen other individuals watch others do things they tend to catch on and start doing it themselves. Its all about how people do certain things. And whether its good or bad.The society we live in only wants to be like the next. For the cool things they do and not just being themselves.Always do this and that trying fit in with the crowd.Or certain individuals thinks its alright to follow others.Instead of that person begin them. They want to show they can be like the world.Nobody should want to follow or be like the next person."The one who follows the crowd will usually get no further than the crowd. The one who walks alone,is likely to find himself in places no one has ever been" -AlbertEinstein
ReplyDeleteThe "society" does not really agree with the idea of conforming, or being the same.In reality, the system of society actually conform whether or not it is agreed. This is what leads to the intentionally unobtrusive actions of an individual in a society.Mark Twain said it best when he stated,"We are discreet sheep;we wait to see how the drove is going, and then go with the drove."Conformity of individuals will always willingly or unwillingly set a bases for society.
ReplyDeleteIndividual people can make a choice for their selves not follow anyone else's. People in life can be confirmed their are other options in life in to be a follower. You can make a difference for your self if you be a leader be you not someone else. The people who are followers can be doing the wrong things. "You should always be you not someone else you have a lot of options in life then to be a follwer.
ReplyDeleteSome individuals learn what they should or should not do by following others. As humans we conform to learn about different types of things. Sometimes to become good leaders we must conform with others. In our generation now we don't like to conform we try to be different, but we must following the other generation to become a better generation. We all look at how people do things and if it look good we follow them and maybe switvh it up. Conforming leads to new ideas." Wars may be fought with weapons, but they are won by men who follow and the man who leads that gain victory.
ReplyDeleteMany people conform to fit in the crowd. Everyone individual wants the newest hairstyles, clothes, shoes, etc. Everyone wants to be similar that's how our society works now. That's everywhere that wants to be like someone or be similar with. "It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation"-Herman Melville.
ReplyDeleteTo conform the quote not all people have to be the same. Individuals can be different.and the society say's changing yourself, can have consequences because it can hurt some people. But not all people agree with society because they might judge them. It doesn't matter what they say you just have to be yourself."Who wants to be normal when you can be unique?" - Helena Bonham.
ReplyDeletePeople on Earth are born blind.People need guidance. We tend to look and then follow the herd.No one would want to be left out. It's just a born instinct, uncontrollable, and hard to bare. You can fight it,all you can do is go with the herd."I am incapable of speaking of myself and of my life and the states of my soul,I am discreet to an almost pathological degree, and there's nothing I can do about it"- Milan Kundera.
ReplyDeleteIndividuals go with the flow of others so they do not fail in life. Many people do not know the risk of something so they let other people fall in the trap. When things go good individuals will conform to the situation and follow them."The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns momentarily from the herd and thinks for himself"-Albert Einstein. This quote states that an individual distanced himself from the herd and thinks for himself but still goes based off someone in the herd opinion. The individual basically saw how the individual went with his opinion and conformed to it alone.
ReplyDeleteSociety has always been set up for its individuals to conform. Conformity for most individuals keeps them inside a zone of comfort. Threw out life individuals seek conformity because they don't want to feel out from the rest of society. Always seeking the acceptance of others they will never get of conformity. Robert Kinder said "Conformity, humility, acceptance...with these coins we are to pay our fares to paradise" meaning individuals conform because they feel that conforming to society helps keeps them comfortable and away from and any form discrepancy.

DeleteIn society, there are many norms and values. Conformity is an important component, because it ensures that citizens comply to the rules. By an individual conforming this creates a social control and individuals are less likely to deviate from norms. "The opposite of bravery is not cowardice but conformity", Dr.Robert Anthony. I'm implying that conformity is like natural selection, it is a inborn characteristic of an individual.

ReplyDeleteIndividuality nowadays doesn't exist anymore.People tend to follow each others beliefs, standards, etc. Simply to fit in, or sometimes to lead them to new opportunities/ avoid situations, and so on. Krishnamurti said it best when he claimed,"Society does not want individuals that are alert, keen, revolutionary, because such individuals will not fit into the established social pattern and they may break it up.That is why society seeks to hold your so called education encourages to imitate, to follow, to conform.

DeleteIndividuals do observe trends and things others do around them. Some trends are made to be funny, challenging, amusing, and entertaining. However, trends or the things most people in society do, can be reckless and down right useless.Paul Carrick once wrote,"Thinking before acting is wisdom ,but acting before thinking is regret".Individuals who conforms with our society in a heart beat, basically just goes with the flow and play it cool.Although, it is best to get more information on things other individuals are doing and then mentally approve or disapprove whether to try it or not.

DeleteIn today's society,we are, followers,we just don't wount other people to know. Now in days a lot of individuals have no sense of conformity. Some individvals decide to do what they see others do or they tend to be scared of comfort zone.Mouny others do it to fit in the crowa or to follow others just for acceptance. It is not always great to follow others,In order to discove your own brignt things, thats why we shall say "The function of leade ship is to produce more leaders, not more followers.-Ralph Nader.
ReplyDeleteGood job Marcos :)
DeleteIt's our nature to strongly conform with society. It's a system set up by the government to keep us in "line" as individuals. Society has this big label which if you're different in any way its wrong. We all the same, we all follow one another. "The reward for conformity is that everyone likes you but yourself".- Rita mas brown
ReplyDeleteDo you conform to what everyone else is doing? You shouldn't feel like the only way to be happy with yourself is to be like everyone else. Everyone should enjoy being unique. Don't be afraid of being different be afraid of being the same as everyone else. Conformity is a force that not many individuals can resist.
ReplyDeleteBeing aware as a individual is better then taking risk of not knowing. Surprises is ok but its not better then Knowing, for example walking in a store seeing snacks sitting out . As if they free wanting to take one but not knowing if its free or not waiting for somebody else to take the Lead to now conform the good and or bad results of the Situation. " I am a Leader not a follower unless its a dark place, then you are going first. " Wanting to see or know a little information before Doing anything do not make a follower.
ReplyDeleteIndividuals go with the flow all the time. Whether they think about it or not they naturally do it. Individuals always conform when they want to fit in, there is no if, ands,or buts, every individual has done it, and continuously does it. The individual may not like it,but the power society has over one person is ridiculous. Like JFK said "Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth." If an individual can naturally conform, then they can naturally differ.
ReplyDeleteGood post!
DeleteConformity exists for a reason: it's the system that society has made and expects individuals to follow it regardless. Individuals who oppose society are the ones who follow their own morals and some even take extreme measures in order for society to change. John F. Kennedy stated, " Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth." So basically, some individuals feel like they're being kept away from their freedom just because society doesn't have what they want. Conformity is like a bird flying and soaring in an individual's mind and for some of them, it's hard to ignore it. individuals who follow conformity are the ones who want to avoid getting in trouble, but some aren't happy with what society has become.
ReplyDeleteWell-stated :) Kudos!!!
DeleteEverybody follows an example left behind by others. This is most likely the reason why when a famous person such as an actor or a singing individual does something their little fan group does the exact same thing. If an actor was to wear Versace sunglasses his or her fans would do the same. It's like a trend going viral; everybody wants to conform to others and what their doing and act how they act. Peter Lindbergh said it best when he said "...they follow trends and don't know why"
ReplyDeleteGreat quote added for support :)
Delete"Confirm"to be similar or identical. "Individual" a single member of a category. An individual is naturally needed to fit into society. "Society" the aggregate of people living together in a more or less ordered community. "One of the greatest regrets in life is being what others would want you to be, rather than being yourself"-Shannon L. Alder.
ReplyDeleteWe as individual wait to see how the croword is doing and we follow. As individual you should stand out for what you believe and be yourself. Friedrich Nietzsche said "The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed. If you try it, you will be lonely ten, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself".
ReplyDeleteA person how to follow a leader and go with them and follow them around all day and talk with them to confirm how he or she is doing so each individual would not do anything to get in trouble
ReplyDeleteAlot of people like to blend into society. They enjoy complying & conforming with the rest of the sheep because they will not be judged. For Most individuals, fitting into society gives a feeling of warmth & commodity. People don't want to upset the herd, so they go along as "discreet sheep" so they will not be rejected. A quote from Vincent O'Sullivan reads, "if you are different from the rest of the flock, they bite you." Sometimes out is better to stay quiet & walk alongside everyone else

DeleteSociety today doesnt do really good with choosing between good and bad actuons. An individual might see someone do something that might cause them their life, but to feel fool they'll go do it also. In this world their is kids whom conform with the rules and lays and go by them. People whom do bad in the streets are probably following bad people and also following their footsteps. The kids whom do good and go by the rules they know that there leading kids on the right path. "The only definition of a leader is someone who has followers"

David Icke made the quote" the human race us a herd, here we are unique yet live a life of conformity" as society intends for us to do to conform is to better yourself for the sake of surviving in life and to reside by one another.

Delete“Just be yourself life is to short to be someone else". People look back and observe before they make a move. Either youre trying to fit in or just dont know how to react to something. People sometimes are frightened and dont know how to react to society sometimes. People often conform to society because they dont want to seem wierd or strange. Dont try to fit in with things or people that is not positive. Find your own flow and have people follow your flow
ReplyDeletePeople in today's society follow the "norms" that ourselves have created trough fashion, social media and our behavior. We are supposed to say, think, act like others do because if we don't conform what society considers "normal" then you could be bullied or laughed at or another words, ostracized. Its very terryifing to do the opposite and the weak will always follow because they won't be able to confront the talk of others.
ReplyDeleteEvery sheep leaves its flock. Each individual person may sometimes conform or disobey. Being individual and being opposite is terrifying. That one sheep that leaves its flock always comes back. As John F. Kennedy once said, conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth. You see, conformity tends to trap you inside a mold, when there is a lot of world to be discovered. When you are always inside the mold, you are not free and certainly not growing. But you see, since you never experienced that freedom or world you tend to conform and go back home.

As Rita Mae Brown once said "I think the reward for conformity is that everyone likes you except your self". Some people feel their not good enough for the simple fact everyone wants to be them, they want to be better now.

ReplyDeleteThe quote is talking about how most people wait on their next directions from doing what their told. In a way,its kinda like slavery and thats seems very wrong. Everyone have their own path to follow but some of them people prefer to go though a path that is already chosen for them. Like Asian parents choosing what they want their children to be when they grow up. "We are just like pets; we wait on being serve to or being told on what to get or do." This quote is similar to the real one.
Every sheep leaves its flock. Each individual person may sometimes conform or disobey. Being individual and being opposite is terrifying. That one sheep that leaves its flock always comes back. ReplyDeleteIt is in our nature to follow. As important as it is to be an individual we all conform. We are taught to be the same. As Henry David Thoreau says ,"Every generation laughs at the old fashions, but follows religiously the new." We are often shamed for being different or a little odd. Which causes many to be in fear of not following societies view on life.
ReplyDeleteGreat quote!
DeleteThis generation now days are smart but not that smart . If they see somebody doing something wrong , but they get away with it think it's okay for others to do it . This generation is smart enough to know if they've seen something gone wrong to not do it . Each individual has his or her own mind , but yet still chooses the wrong path . Those who conforms stands out in the drove, instead of those who follows the wrong crowd . Matshona Dhliwayo once said " A star does not compete with other stars around it ; it just shines " . Even if you do choose to follow a crowd , make sure it the right crowd
ReplyDeleteGood correlation between your chosen quote and the topic of conformity!
DeleteThis world is based on what other individuals do.people like to to chill and just watch and how others do stuff, so they can just copy them. Example people change styles every year because some famous person might switch up there flow, and people would like how it is and try to be like them so they start doing what they do and just go with the flow until it's fully confirmed like nothing has changed
ReplyDeleteSome individuals allow their reverence to take control over themselves not knowing the reason why. There may be someone who wants to buy a shirt, but the shirt has a weird dessign on it, and they decide not to buy it because he/she is afraid of what people are going to say about it. Then weeks later this individual sees the shirt wore by a person of influence and decides to buy it. Over the years, the community has lead one another into a world where it only matters how others react when thinking about making a self-decision and they conform into following the others' steps. This is why David Icke once said - " The greates prison people live in is the fear of what others will think."
People naturally feel the need to follow. Therefore, it is easier to conform in this society today. It is harder to be your on individual , because people where brought upon this world doing what they see other people do. Susan Cain stated it best saying that" Extroversion is an enormously appealing personality style, but we've turned it into an oppressive standard to which most of us feel we must conform." I am implying that society don't no how to be leaders because all we know is to do what we see other people do.

DeleteA society as a whole we follow rules, however we follow them because a individual said it was okay. Without having someone giving us their consent, the society wouldn't be organized. Michael Morpurgo once said,"It's the teacher that makes the difference, not the classroom." This demonstrates how a individual can in fact conform within the society. A group of people that have norms creates a society.
ReplyDeleteAs an indivisual we tend to follow what we see & what everyone else is doing. It's a natural instinct we have and no one can change it. It's how we "fit in" just to be accepted. That's how we conform ourself in society. " The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own for existing ". -Albert Einstein
ReplyDeleteEveryone follows someone in there life time. Yet you can chose who you hang out with, and decide to follow or be a leader to others, you being a leader might teach other to be one there selves.
ReplyDeleteOn sides with quote #2 it states that the individual is tempted to go on their own but isn't strong willed enough to fan out on their own & is forced to conform into the bunch, crowd,or clique. They are scared to leave the outfit of the world to be the "black sheep".As if they feel their peers shaming their decision or they're imagining the fear of loneliness and independence.Their conscience yelling at them, to decide stay or to go as they ponder in reality in a world of superficial society and strong judgement."I think the reward for conformity is that everyone likes you except yourself" quoted by Rita Mae Brown saying the people would rather you be a follower than a blossom of any form.Conformity is experienced by a lot of people,by force, fear, peer pressure, and poor judgement.Make sure you go through the process that feels best to you.
ReplyDeleteGood post!
DeleteIn society individuals are followers of something. It can be the law or an idea that they feel its right to follow. For example, in high school, you don't see diversity. All you see is people that try to be the comfort. Even thought they might not agree, but individuals want to fit in. Marily Manson couldn't have said it better" We live in a society of victimization, where people are much more comfortable being victimized than actually standing up for themselves".
ReplyDeleteGood post!
DeleteSociety has a very huge power, which is control over individualism. Unfortunately no matter what anyone does or say a person cant be an individual. Therefore it is more common for someone to go with the flow, in other words they can follow the leader not be the leader. Of course there are people who might fight for what they believe but they wont succeed. Jim Hightower said, "The opposite for courage is not cowardice, it is conformity. Even a dead fish can go with the flow." this quote proves that people will deny and fight for their who or what they are, but in reality conformity over rules all. Obviously people don't want to believe this but it's the truth, its a natural thing that %80 out of %100 people do. Now it is true everyone has their differences but at the end of the day everyone does the same things as others, they go with the flow.

DeleteIndividuals have been changing. People try not to stand out anymore because of being afraid for not being accepted. So they decide to do what everyone else does. Following the trend in either style, fashion or actions. Only wanting to be accted by everyone. They conform because for not wanting to be distinct and being called weird. If people continue to be like this, it will result with what Dale Archer said, "When you're always to conform to the norm, you lose your uniqueness".
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing wrong witb being conformed.Everyone wasnt made to be unique and different. And individuals can be sometime terrified with the thought of being as one.We are taught to be the same.Such as J Frank.Dobie Said "conform and be dull".
ReplyDeleteIts not about the individual its about the group. Society secretly follows eachother. Individuality is something that is important but many others choose to copy. In the generation that is now everyone chooses to conform. Now individuality dosent exist people tend to copy other's hairstyles, clothes & beliefs. ReplyDeleteIn life it is easier to go with the flow then stand out.As individuals in this world it is easier to conform.Because they will be excluded or even seen as weird if they stand out."I think the reward for conformity is that everyone likes you expect yourself"-Rita Mae Brown
ReplyDeleteEvery individual follows society, whether it's right or wrong. Individuals will do anything to fit in at certain times, even if that means doing the wrong thing. Evette Carter once said "Conformity is doing what everybody else is doing regardless of what's right." There is a standard that society holds against individuals. The standard is; If you don't follow the crowd, you wont fit in . In this world conformity is toxic you can't hide from it, you can over come it, but at some point you are gonna have it.
ReplyDeleteAn individual cannot be naturally born to conform. People tend to go along role in society. Everyone is taught to conform. "A round man cannot be expected to fit in a square hole right away.He must have time to modify his shape" as Mark,Twain stated showing how an individual is not born into conformity. Society sustains and develops with time not birth.
ReplyDeleteMost individuals see what others individuals do and think its okay to follow sue. In this life time I do see more of following then leading but following its also okay for other. Our nature to conform to enforce to do unsuccessfully resisted and wait for self approval from others. Sometimes it falls upon a generation to be great. You can be that great generation.let your greatness blossom

In today's society we are followers we try to fit in with crowd . And look up to celebrities who don't try help the world at all but we still some how look up to them as role models .And buy the same clothes as them .Although their a horrible person .We'll do anything to fit it spend our money , change our slang , and the way we dress just to feel like others around us . " Conformity is jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth "This means we're going out of way just to seem "cooler " .
ReplyDeletePeople are all the same , everyone wants to be different but every individual does the same. You look around to see what's going on so you can do the same. Every boy or girl always wants to be different no one wants to be lonely , no one wants to stand alone. Most people are conformity. To be yourself in a world that is constant trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment - Ralph Waldo. Just to be yourself & come up how you were raised.
ReplyDeleteAs human beings,we are used to doing things out of nature. Many wish to have other's acceptance in order to make an action of their own. They act as if other's thoughts are more important than their own. They will change their appearance, the way they think and act. Rita Mae Brown once said, "I think the reward for conformity is that everyone likes you except yourself." This shows that its natural for an individual to change or act according to what someone else says, but it isn't guaranteed tha

ReplyDeleteAs people, we are told be our own individual and make our own path. While this is great, we need people to conform to society. Why would we would make laws if nobody will follow? “We are half-ruined by conformity but we should be wholly ruined without it.” — Charles Dudley Warner. This quote talks about how we need to conform to society if we plan on getting anywhere. Otherwise, we would not achieve anything. Conformity society isn't bad all the time.

DeleteWe as human beings live for the approval of our peers & even complete strangers. It's in our nature to conform to the approval of another individual. Whether it be life decisions or just the clothes that we wear. A$AP Bari stated once in a interview " The reason that we can't progress foward as human beings is because everybody wants to make everybody else but themselves happy and that eventually ends up holding us behind not only as americans but as a species ". Each individual has their own way of thinking , most individuals know what the right thing is to do but yet , they choose to follow whatever crowd they know best. If a person is bold enough to go against whatever their standard may be , there's always a chance that they'll be alone if they don't give in to another individual's standards & break the chain of conformity. We know what's right & what's wrong & it's sad that we'd rather be surely wrong together than risking the chance of being right by themselves. Surely enough , this is the way of the human species & it has been & always will be the way we live.
ReplyDeleteEach individual is conformed in any way. The system in wich their are linked up can help them learn together as a group doing the same thing . Their is no suck thing as not the same . Doing the same things can influence the way they think or take action on things.

ReplyDeleteBeing rudimentary can seem to be authentically unoriginal and boring to people in this world but then again, someone without a clue about their personality, lives or career can choose to be someone else's conception of living, being who they are, and becoming them in general. As people want to achieve being who they authentically are, society criticism them so their last option has to be becoming society “Ideal perfect person” so they won't be judged and society can appreciate.“We may have all come on different ships, but we’re in the same boat now.” quoted by Martin Luther King, Jr. We’re all different from who we are and where we emanated from, but some people choose to follow someone else's path. Being Unique or either Unoriginal is permitted in this world as long you are living to achieve a goal. We’re all different and on the same page on living till death.
